Nursing Care

The Exeter Clinical Research Facility is staffed by highly trained research nurses and practitioners, dedicated to supporting the smooth and safe running of the Research studies run within it.

The CRF provides an exciting opportunity for experienced nurses and practitioners to develop the skills required to become specialist researchers.

  • Pedal pulse and Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) to assess peripheral artery disease
  • Doppler training
  • Participant Dining Area
  • Venepuncture
  • Echocardiogram (ECG) to assess heart's rhythm and electrical activity
  • Infusion preparation
  • Resuscitation Trolley checks
  • Venepuncture

The CRF also enables the nursing team to achieve NMC revalidation and to extend their scope of practice whilst supporting a wide range of clinical research studies. All members of the team work within a variety of project areas, utilising their existing clinical skills or undertaking specialist training to meet project specific needs.
